Die traurige Entdeckung oder der ungeratene Lehrling

Thomas Rowlandson, 1785

This is a drawing of a scene in a bedroom. In the image, several figures are gathered around a bed, reacting with surprise and alarm. The bedding is in disarray, and one figure is crawling on the floor while others are gesturing with expressions of shock. A canopy is over the bed. The characters' expressions and postures are exaggerated, and the room is dimly lit with shadows.
