Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, 1896

The image shows the upper bodies of two people seated, possibly in a theater setting. The woman is on the left, facing away with a composed expression. She wears a dark hat with feathers, a textured wrap, and light-colored hair. The man on the right has sharp facial features, a top hat, suit, bow tie, and floral lapel decoration. The background is a warm, textured red, with a diagonal line hinting at a theater box.
