Der Austernfischer (Haematopus ostralegus)

Mark Catesby, veröffentlicht 1731–1743

This is a drawing of a bird standing on a rock with a branch nearby. The bird has a long, slender, red beak and red eyes. It has a brown body with a white patch on its wings and light-colored legs. The rock is textured, and there is a green branch with elongated leaves and two rounded fruits or buds. A simple background is visible with a horizontal line at the bottom. The style suggests a focus on ornithological or botanical illustration.
