Proposed Wall Decoration No. 2, Old Corcoran Gallery of Art

Europäische Grafik 1833–1921, 1880

The image shows an ornately decorated wall featuring a frieze with various sculptural elements and a painted portrait medallion. Beneath the frieze are name plaques for "PAOLO VERONESE," "TIZIANO VECELLIO," "PIETRO PAUL RUBENS," and "RAFFAELLO D'URBINO." Two framed paintings are displayed on a mauve-colored section of the wall. The upper painting depicts figures in a pinkish natural setting, while the larger bottom painting shows a tranquil landscape with trees and mountains. The color palette includes earthy tones for the figures and terrain, and a blend of greens and blues for the landscape. The wall is decorated in subdued browns and purples, while the frames of the paintings are gold-toned.
