Vase of Morning Glories

Amerikanische Malerei 1878–1884, n.d.

This painting depicts a decorated white vase filled with morning glory flowers. The blooms range in color from pink and white to a deep bluish-purple. Wide green leaves surround the flowers, and green tendrils cascade over the side of the vase, which has two handles around a thin neck and a body decorated with white carvings of flowers and fruit. The vase sits on a dark, reflective surface with hints of gold marbling. The wall in the background is a light gray color.
