William Sidney Mount

Amerikanische Malerei 1849–1850, c. 1850

The image shows a person from the waist up, in a seated position with the body slightly angled to the right while the head is turned towards the left. The person has light skin, brown hair that is parted in the middle, and falls to just below the ears, with a distinctive full mustache and beard along the jawline. The person is dressed in a dark jacket over a vibrant red vest and a high-collared blue shirt or tie is visible. A small pin adorns the blue fabric. The background is a textured mix of warm brown tones.
