Saint Alto

Deutsche Grafik 1500–1563, c. 1500

This print shows a person standing, appearing to cut down a tree next to them with a small blue blade. The person has a round face with pale skin, rosy cheeks, simple facial features, and short, curly, brown hair. They are wearing a blue hat with a cross, a brown robe over a blue-and-white garment, cream-colored gloves, and red boots. In the background, there are trees on the right, some of which are already down, and on the left is a red church and a flat gray object. White birds fly in the gray sky, holding branches in their beaks. The ground is a pinkish-tan color.
