The Triumph of the Church

Deutsche Grafik 1250–1460, second half 13th century

"The Triumph of the Church" is a square, illuminated artwork featuring a richly detailed and vibrant scene. At the center, two primary figures are depicted: a crowned female figure on the left, dressed in flowing robes of white and grey, holding a church model and a staff, and a crowned male figure on the right, seated and adorned in a blue robe, holding a scepter. They are surrounded by a golden background. Encircling the central figures are numerous smaller figures, each with distinct facial features and attire, arranged in rows and arches.
