Young Woman's Head in Profile

Hubert Robert, probably c. 1754/1765

The sketch depicts a profile view of a person's upper body, from the chest upwards. The individual is facing sideways to the left. Their facial features are delicately outlined, with a prominent nose and a subtle smile. The eyes are minimally detailed, and the hair is styled elaborately with decorative elements resembling ribbons or bows. Simple lines suggest clothing, possibly a collar or upper garment. The background is plain and unadorned, directing focus to the drawing's subject.
