Madonna and Child in a Glory Standing on a Crescent Moon

Deutsche Grafik 1470–1480, circa 1470

The artwork shows a full-length image of a woman and child. The woman is standing on a crescent moon, surrounded by a radiant glory. She has long, flowing hair and is wearing a long robe. The child is held in her arms, leaning against her. Both figures have halos. The background is simple, with a faint, blue sky and a red border framing the scene. The style is reminiscent of religious iconography.
