Ignis Fatuus - Zurumati

George Catlin II, 1854/1869

The image shows a dense jungle with an illuminated path leading through it. The horizon is faintly visible in the distance, created by trees and foliage. The dense greenery is depicted with intricate brushstrokes, enhancing the texture of the scene. The color palette consists of rich greens and browns, with highlights of orange and yellow where light hits the foreground. In the distance, cooler and darker colors like blue and gray add depth. On the right, there is a group of figures partially visible among the foliage and shadows.
