A Gallery in the Gymnasium (Une galerie au gymnase)

Édouard Vuillard, published 1900

The image displays swirling lines and shadowy shapes creating a sense of depth and structure. The abstract scene features deep greens and yellows, resembling the interior of a theater or opera house. Textured patterns evoke draped curtains and decorated walls. Dark, indistinct forms suggest seated figures, contrasting with a luminous foreground hinting at architectural details like railings or archways.
